15 February 2010

In February 2010, Bradford Crown Court heard that twenty employees of Huddersfield based Electrical Waste Recycling Group were exposed to levels of mercury “above UK guidance levels” caused by failing ventilation systems between October 2007 and August 2008.

The company was fined £140,000 and ordered to pay £35,127 costs after pleading guilty to breaching Section 2(1) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. The Company Director was also fined £5,000 after pleading guilty to breaching Regulation 7(1) of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002.
