 | News Category: US News Landfills settle Solid Waste Violations 15 February 2010
The State Department of Environmental Quality in Arizona has reported that two landfills are to pay a total of $58,000 (approximately £37,000) in penalties to resolve alleged solid waste violations. La Paz County Landfill, agreed to pay $47,000 after an inspection identified soil contaminated by petroleum and hot lead slag being used as landfill cover. Cooper Mountain Landfill has agreed to pay $11,000 after exposed contaminated soil was found spread over a landfill slope and a 55-gallon drum of soil contaminated by used motor oil was found in a vehicle maintenance area.
