News Category: UK Waste Legislation and Guidance Consultation on the Transposition of the Revised Waste Framework Directive (WFD) (Directive 2008/98/EC) in England and Wales 17 August 2009
The Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) is responsible for transposing the revised WFD into English Law by 12 December 2010 (the Welsh Assembly Government are responsible for doing the same in Wales). Views are being sought on the WFD in stage one of a two stage consultation. The issues covered by the consultation include the following:
- Extended Producer Responsibility;
- Re-use and Recycling;
- Hazardous Waste;
- Waste Oils;
- Biowaste;
- Waste Management Plans; and
- Waste Prevention Programmes
The deadline for responses to DEFRA is Friday 9 th October 2009.
